Couldn't establish a game authentication session

A player's game could not sign in to Rockstar. Nothing to do with your server.

Do this first

Have them sign into the Rockstar launcher and turn off any VPN.

What it means

The client could not authenticate with Rockstar or Cfx before joining. It is entirely client-side and entirely outside the server's control.

What causes it

Ordered by how often it is the answer.

  1. 1

The Rockstar Games Launcher is not signed in

GTA V has to be owned and signed in. A launcher that logged itself out produces this.

  2. 2

    Rockstar's services are down

It happens. Check their status before anything else.

  3. 3

    A VPN or proxy

Rockstar auth is sensitive to region hopping.

  4. 4

FiveM or the launcher running elevated

Different privilege levels break the handshake between them.

  5. 5

    Antivirus blocking the auth request

Blocking the connection, not the file.

How to tell which one is yours

Can the player launch GTA V Online normally? If not, the problem is Rockstar's side and FiveM is a bystander. If yes, it is the VPN, the elevation or the antivirus.

Where to look

Nothing on the server. This is a client-side entry so that it can be recognised and set aside rather than investigated.

How to fix it

Sign in to the Rockstar launcher, close the VPN, run neither FiveM nor the launcher as administrator, and retry.

Still stuck on your own code?

This page is what this error usually means. Paste your console into Server Fixer and it will rank everything in it and tell you what to do first, and if you would rather not touch it, ORBIE can repair the script and hand the resource back ready to drop in.
